Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC)

The Ramstein Airman and Family Readiness center in Bldg. 2120 serves as a one-stop information and referral center for single, married, active duty military and retired individuals and their families within the Kaiserslautern Military Community. The Airman and Family Readiness Center staff can help you with many relocation concerns, answer questions about area villages and provide assistance with moving adjustments. The Relocation Program is the office of primary responsibility for the Base INTRO program. For an appointment, contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center for an appointment at DSN 480-5100/5900.

The Airman and Family Readiness Center's Family Resource Center Loan Locker lends household items such as dishes, pots, pans, utensils, coffee pots, toasters, alarm clocks and light housekeeping items at no cost. Also available are booster seats and strollers for the little ones. Cots can be loaned, as well. You can check out all items for up to 60 days with a copy of permanent change of station orders.

Spouse employment assistance is also available at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Career focus offers programs and seminars to assist active-duty service members, Department of Defense civilian employees and their spouses who are seeking employment in the local area or preparing to relocate back to the United States.

Personal-financial management and Air force Aid programs are also offered. Staff members can help you resolve budget-related issues, answer questions, provide budget training and in many cases, emergency financial assistance. They also hold financial information seminars. Counselors can help you map out your financial strategy while you adjust to the higher cost of living in Germany.

A hub for all Ramstein volunteer programs, the Airman and Family Readiness Center is instrumental in advertising volunteer opportunities in a variety of positions within almost every agency in the KMC community. The volunteer manager has a list of agencies requiring help on a regular basis.

Family Life Education classes help you improve all aspects of home life. We offer several marriage seminars, stress and self-esteem workshops, couple's communication and specialized parenting classes.

The Family Readiness Program helps families to be self-sufficient, if military members are away on deployments or temporary duty. The staff also provides private video teleconferencing to enable families to talk together while they are apart. For single or dual-military families, the program has information on building a family care plan. The Transition Assistance Program provides information to separating and retiring military members and their spouses to help them make a smooth transition for military life to the civilian sector. The program provides a mandatory separation briefing, a four-day transition seminar, classes and use of the Discovery Center.
