COLONEL JON M. JOHNSON

Col (Dr.) Jon M. Johnson is the Commander, 86th AMDS, Ramstein Air Base (AB), Germany.  He is also the Chief of Aerospace Medicine (SGP) for the 86th Medical Group (MDG) and Public Health Emergency Officer for the 86th Airlift Wing.  The 86th Aerospace Medicine Squadron (AMDS) consists of 128 active duty, civilian, local national, and contract personnel divided into six flights to include Flight Medicine, Optometry, Aeromedical Staging Facility, Bioenvironmental Engineering, Public Health and Health Promotions.  The squadron's mission is to provide premier medical support to Team Ramstein in order to provide rapid air mobility for the Air Force's premier power projection platform...Anytime and Anywhere!  

Col Johnson was commissioned in the USAF after graduating from the US Air Force Academy in June 1993.  He attended medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and graduated in May 1997.  Subsequently, he completed a Residency in Family Practice at Eglin AFB, FL.  After serving as a family physician, Col Johnson completed the Aerospace Medicine Primary Course to earn his flight surgeon rating and served as a Squadron Medical Element, 1st Fighter Squadron, Tyndall AFB, FL.  Col Johnson entered the 3-year Residency program in Aerospace & Occupational Medicine at USAF School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) and completed his Masters in Public Health at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston, TX.  After serving several assignments as SGP, he was selected for command of the 7th AMDS followed by his current command of the 86th AMDS.
